Making Healthy Choices

Naturally, it’s difficult for kids to make the healthiest food choices when faced with a much sweeter treat.  KidsLove Food™ is here to help educate kids and parents on the what to eat, why to eat it, and how to make the best choices.  It’s all about introducing our kids to new foods and helping them choose foods that are going to make their bodies feel good and be their healthiest.

AND let’s not forget about including exercise and activities to keep their bodies strong!  KidsLove to Move, we help make it fun.

That being said KidsLove Food™ is also a big fan of cupcakes, but teaches kids that they are a “sometimes” food.  We also educate parents how to choose the healthiest meals and snacks available to help our kids grow up healthy and strong.

Contact us about setting up a program with your organization or school to teach your kids about nutrition and healthy living.

What an Honor- Featured PSSM member during Mother’s Day Week

Mother’s Day week was a bit of a whirl wind with my kids’ school concert, 1st grade trip to the zoo, soccer and baseball.  But in the midst of all the “kid” activities, how exciting to get a great e-mail from Jo-Lynne Shane, head of Philly Social Media Moms group, telling me I was chosen to be the featured Member of the week.  It felt extra special to receive this honor on Mother’s Day week from a group of Moms/dynamic women I feel blessed to know.

Garden Divas

Me and one of my garden helpers after a fun morning prepping the garden for plants.

Gardening with your kids is an amazing way to get them involved with their food- it teaches them where food comes from and gets them excited to taste new veggies.  Not to mention, how fun it is wearing the cute hats!

Happiest Mother’s Day

happyday Happiest Mothers DayHappiest Mothers’s Day to all mommies everywhere.  I’ve happily been spending my morning in bed catching up on some writing and e-mails while watching cooking shows.

Here is the card my 5 year old son made for me in Kindergarten.  We’ve been laughing about this all morning.

Highlights:

“When my Mom has free time, she likes to lay on the couch.”

“I love my Mom because she’s not nuts like my Dad!”

“My Mom shows me that she love me when she Hugs me.”Diva Dietitian (Registered and Licensed Dietitian) blogs in Full Disclosure. Please see: http://divadietitian.com/about/disclosure. All Opinions are my own. I will ONLY write about things I love, believe in or that truly inspire me.

My Little Seedlings

Here is a peak at my little seedlings. I can’t wait to get these cuties nestled in their new home, my backyard garden.

I picked up some tomatoes, cucumbers, rainbow chard, parsley, basil, peppers and lettuce at the Doylestown Farmers Market this morning.

If you haven’t been to the Doylestown Farmer’s market, I highly recommend adding this experience to your Saturday morning routine.  They sell everything from fruits and vegetables to eggs and pickles!

National Herb Week

This week is National Herb Week.  Early this spring I was delighted to find the chives I planted last spring survived throughout the winter and began to bloom.  Chives are the smallest species of edible onion, belonging to the Allium family.  This perennial plant is native to Europe, Asia, and North America.  The flowers of chive plants bloom from April to May and are light purple in color.

The leaves of chives are used in cooking and as a garnish.  The flowers are also edible.  Chives have a very mild onion flavor.  Their usage dates back 5000 years in Europe.  Chives are used widely in French cuisine.  I use chives as a garnish and to provide a subtle onion flavor in soups, potatoes, and egg dishes.  I added chives to my low fat cheese omelet yesterday.
