Marshmallows- Secret to Potty Training

A Day in The Life of Potty Training.

Here is a funny and yet another Dietitian Confession…

Potty training at our house is all inspired by Marshmallows.  Little ones for pee pee on the potty and a big Marshmallow for success with #2.

Should you reward good behavior with food?  The correct answer is No, of course not.  That is not sound Nutrition Advice.

But when it comes to potty training- all bets are off!  And if stickers aren’t working….Sugar Shout Out for the almighty Marshmallow- Woot!

M&Ms worked for my first child, marshmallows for my second and third.

Love Your Skin- Cold Weather Beauty Tips

Thanks to Walgreens for underwriting this post. I was paid as a member of the Clever Girls Collective, but the content is all mine. Visit http://www.discoverbeautywithin.com/.

Like so many, I struggle with dry skin in the winter time.   My hands are often cracked and scratchy from washing them too much, my cuticles- a dry mess, my scalp (hate to admit this one) always gets a little flaky in the winter.  So what can we do to help combat the cold weather and in particular it’s drying effects on our skin?

Here is the skinny on a few of my cold weather beauty secrets…

1.  Everyday our skin benefits from Good Nutrition.  Our bodies work from the inside out.  And if you want your skin to have that healthy glow about it, you must start by eating right.  Although wrinkles and and acne can come and go during different times in our life, eating a balanced diet allows our skin to be at it’s best.

* Make a conscious effort to eat more fruits and vegetables, especially in the winter months.   In the summer, when fresh produce is so abundant, it’s much easier to remember to eat healthy.  We stop at a Farmer’s Markets and many of us even grow our own gardens.  But in the winter, it’s easier to forget these important colorful foods packed with vitamins, which are skin enhancing power houses.

* Don’t forget to include heart healthy fats in your diet.  At a time of year, when so many people are starting diets- fat can be left out of the picture.  Although we don’t want to BE Fat.  Fat in our diets helps our bodies absorb the many vitamins and minerals we need for beautiful skin.  Foods with heart/skin healthy fats: Olive & Canola Oil, Fresh Avocado, Walnuts.

Four of my favorite foods for beautiful skin:

  • Sweet Potatoes: They are an excellent source of beta-carotene.  (FYI-veggies that are bright orange- are a great source)  Beta-carotene is converted by your body to vitamin A, which is a nutrient that continually generates new & healthy skin cells.
  • Spinach: This mean green fighting machine delivers a trifecta of wrinkle-fighting antioxidants: vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta-carotene. All three work together o protect your skin from the sun (UV rays) and help it stay vibrant and healthy!  Hint: Add spinach to your fruit smoothies in the blender (you won’t taste it I promise!) or add some to your favorite pasta sauce.
  • Carrots: Like Sweet Potatoes (obvious by the orange) supply lots of beta-carotene.  In addition to its lovely job in skin-cell renewal, beta carroten is also a strong antioxidant.  Antioxidants soak up free radicals which are know for accelerating skin aging.  How to eat them? Raw of course or my favorite- Carrot Soup (which reminds me…post my recipe soon!)
  • Sunflower seeds: are loaded with vitamin E, a nutrient vital for skin health and not on the nut allergy list.  By forming a protective barrier in the cell membranes of your skin, the vitamin E in sunflower seeds helps to ward off harmful free radicals and keeps skin firm and elastic.  And if you don’t like sunflower seeds, try pecans or almonds.  FYI- many cereals on the market like Total Raisin Bran are also fortified with vitamin E.  Note: nuts and seeds do pack a lot of calories in a small handful, be aware of their calories while benefiting from their Nutrition.

2.  Drink lots of water.   It’s easy in the winter to gulp down extra coffee or a mug of hot chocolate to stay warm, but remember caffeinated beverages can dehydrate you and leave your skin looking extra dry.  Tea, decaf or regular, which contains much less caffeine than coffee, is a good choice.  Teas contain natural compounds known as polyphenols, which have antioxidant properties.  Don’t like tea, try warming up a cup of water and add a little honey and lemon.  You’ll also get a little extra Vitamin C, that your skin so loves to receive.

3.  Always moisturize your skin right after you get out of the shower or tub.  This is when your skin will best absorb the moisturizer.  I have very sensitive skin and am a big fan of Aveeno Body lotion which you can pick up at any local drugstore.  And want to hear my biggest secret?  You know that purple tube of cream you used when you were nursing, Lanisoh?  Mix that with a little of a lighter creamier lotion and put it on your hands, especially your cuticles.  It is an instant cure to cracked dry skin and torn up or ripped cuticles.  Maybe I should market that!  At night, use Lanisoh alone, but I find it way to sticky to use alone during the day.

4.  For my FACE, I am a big believer in Old Fashioned Oil of Olay.  I say Old fashioned because I have memories of my grandmother.  She swore by it (and had great skin by the way!) Every Christmas we would buy that pink bottle of cream to put in her stocking.  I have also tried the Oil of Olay Regenerist line and find it very gentle.  I’ve just started using the wrinkle reducing cream…keep you posted on how that works.  Also, use a liquid foundation with sunscreen.  Those powder mineral makeups that may be lovely in the summer will just settle in your wrinkles and make you look older!

Here is another trick, unless you have oily skin, try washing your skin ONLY at night with cleanser followed with a moisturizer.  BUT in the morning, just splash your face with water, pat dry and moisturize.  I know manufacturers tell you to wash your face twice a day with their products, but that is nonsense.  In my opinion, it’s a way to sell you more soap!  Too much washing just strips your skin of it’s natural moisture.

5.  If you have a flaky scalp in the winter, try using an over the counter product like Head and Shoulders and see if that helps.  Follow with a hydrating conditioner.  If you still have a real issue with dandruff after trying over the counter shampoo, consult with a Dermatologist. It could be something more like eczema or psoriasis.  Also, if you use a flat iron on your hair, make sure you use a product to help protect your hair from being sizzled!  Sizzled hair is not pretty whether it’s wavy or flat.

6.   If you color your hair (seriously, I think just about every hair on my head is really Gray!) try using L’Oreal Root Rescue in between colorings.  It’s exhausting, expensive and drying to color your hair every 4-6 weeks.  By using L’Oreal Root Rescue, which takes just 10-15 minutes, you can stretch out your Salon visits and…Bonus- Save some time and money!   I’ve also tried Clairol Root Touch Up, but don’t think the color lasted as long for me.

7.  Wash your hair every other day or every two days.  Try a Dry Shampoo in between washings if you feel as if your hair is looking “greasy!”  This may sound grouse at first, but washing your hair every day (especially in the dry winter months) is very drying. Dry Shampoo get the oily dirt out.

8.  Introduce new products to your skin one at a time.  This way if you have a reaction, you know which product it is AND won’t blame it on the wind.

9.  Love your hat or get a Cute Crochet Knit Headwrap  If you have an adorable winter hat or warm headband on your head, you’ll feel beautiful playing outside, even on the coldest day.  Being outside helps your body generate it’s own vitamin D.  Head to the stores this week if you need an update.  All coats, hats and gloves are on CLEARANCE.  Fresh air is good for you and will give your cheeks a rosy glow.

10.  Hit the gym or go for a walk at lunch.  Winter is that time of year that it just feels good to hibernate or snuggle up on the couch to watch the latest sinful activities of the Bachelor.  Make a serious effort to stay active and fit.  If you don’t belong to a gym, can’t afford it or are intimidated, THINK about getting the Wii Fit Plus with or without the Balance Board Love Your Skin Cold Weather Beauty Tipsor just try walking at your local Mall during your lunch hour (leave your credit cards at home!)  The fitter you are, the more beautiful you will feel.

And no matter what, remember to laugh. .  All beauty starts on the inside.   Audry Hepburn said, “For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”

Coffee News Story, Apples and Angels

Just Love this Coffee News story…

Lost Ring: “When you accidentally throw a ring out the window of a moving car, you don’t ever expect to ever find it again. A woman named, Michelle Jumper was driving and eating an apple in the Cape Cod region of Massachusetts.

When she finished the apple she threw it out the window, but the ring on her finger, which belonged to her deceased mother, flew off and disappeared as well.

“The spot where the ring went missing had rocks, vines and leaves everywhere,” says Michelle.

Amazingly, among the leaves, she spotted the ring sparkling and reflecting in the sunlight. She says she knows it was her Mom, her “guardian angel,” who helped her find it.”

Do you believe in Angels?  Stories like this always make me think of times where I thought I got “lucky.”  Was it really luck or perhaps an angel that’s been watching over me?Diva Dietitian (Registered and Licensed Dietitian) blogs in Full Disclosure. Eat Chocolate, Sexy- M&Ms Super Bowl Commercial

Loving the 2012 M&M SuperBowl Commercial.   With Valentine’s Day coming up, it’s an ad of sheer brilliance.  ”I’m sexy and I know it!” Oh, M&Ms- you are so funny.

FYI- there are actually several Health Benefits of Chocolate including the anti-oxidant rich content in DARK chocolate and some studies have shown Dark Chocolate to help reduce blood pressure. And did you know that M&Ms actually come in a delicious dark chocolate now?  I think they are purple…not sure why they are purple, but they are.

That being said, I am not giving you a pass to go into a chocolate binging frenzy.   Chocolate is still full of lots of calories.  If you will be indulging in Valentine’s sweets over the next couple of weeks, make sure it’s good chocolate.  If you get a box of those weird fruity filled ones- poke them to see if it’s on you like instead of gobbling down a weird one.  Also,  cut out other high fat/high calorie foods, such as Doritos.  That is if you still want your jeans to fit.

Speaking of Doritos, what did you think of the Doritos Super Bowl Commercial.  I think that Granny catapulting the baby over to the swing set to get the chips was funny BUT seriously why did that little boy have a whole BIG bag of chips?  Why couldn’t he have an individual size snack bag or a bowl full. What sort of message is that sending?

Anyway, the worst part was that Granny and baby were eating them in the end.  I wonder what Michelle Obama thought about that commercial in her war against childhood obesity.   I’m guessing she was horrified.  Here is my tip:  Do not give your babies chips and especially if they are in a bouncer.  They are too young to eat that junk and they could choke. The End of my Rant….

You Can’t Pick My Brain, It’s Not Free

The following article about “brain picking” is sheer brilliance.

No, You Can’t Pick My Brain. It Costs Too Much – Forbes Article.

I want to HUG Adrienne Graham, author of above Forbes article, and thank her for her lovely and strong business advice.  I hope Forbes paid her big for this article.

brain Google Search You Cant Pick My Brain, Its Not Free

My Brain is Worth a lot of Money

This article hit home.  I  have fallen victim to brain picking, more than once I’m afraid.  My brain has been picked for Nutrition Advice, Social Media Instructions, Publishing Know How, Website Creation and Business and Branding “suggestions.”

Brain Picking…Sounds grouse right?  When I hear the term and really think about it, I see a giant finger poking into my head pulling out something ooey & gooey.

When I share that I am a Registered Dietitian, AKA Nutritionist, people think that they can automatically ask, “Can I PICK YOUR BRAIN a minute?”

Then, before I even have a chance to answer, I am given the details of their kids food allergies, Grandma’s Eczema or how gassy they feel after drinking a glass of milk.

“Do you think I’m lactose Intolerant?”

Please don’t make the question smell any worse than it already is.

I think next time I’m asked this brain invading question, I’ll reply, “Would you like to use your finger or a fork?”  Are you Seeing a FORK in my head? Not pretty right?  BTW, I don’t think I could ever say this to someone.  It’s just a funny.

“You can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but don’t pick your friend’s nose”
This applies to brains too.  Please don’t be offended friends.

Honestly I love helping my friends with things and my friends help me stay sane and happy.   I love swapping business ideas and talking about my own picky eaters and what’s working for me.  I love talking about recipes and food and being a resource to my friends when needed.  I just don’t want to talk shop all of the time or get caught up in brain picking on a play date.  It leaves me feeling drained and my kids feel neglected.

167266573630152759 Yb6bUXhg c You Cant Pick My Brain, Its Not Free

I fell hard to being a victim of Brain Picking a few months ago.  My most recent brain battering was from a local Chef who decided he wanted to “pick my brain” or shall I say…market his business to an industry that I have many connections in for FREE.

Not only did he pick my marketing brain, but dug in deep in and grabbed all the ooey gooey good stuff about breaking into working with that industry, social media tips, networking AND even has a few connections I gave him that he still does business with.

Now I admit, I let it happen.  I was happy to help him.  But it was my fault and for whatever reason, that I somehow ended up helping working for him for FREE.  I was lured in for the brain pick and some.  He would text me in the evenings and call me at odd hours.  My husband not thrilled about that at all- can you imagine?

He enticed me in with a delicious lunch or two and “possibilities” of all the success and money we could make working together on projects, “What a good team we would make.”  I actually believed I would receive monetary commissions for the connections I made for him, or should I say Money Making Jobs I got for him.  But my pockets still empty.

Result of the brain pick- HE made THOUSANDS of dollars (literally) and me…a sandwich and a bowl of soup, a parking ticket and hours on the phone and in person…helping him succeed.  I hinted he should pay me, suggested what would be fair BUT that was it. He seemed like he was on board.

{Note to self- don’t hint, don’t suggest- insist and demand payment for services provided}

Looking back, I should have done things differently.  I should have sent him my fees upfront & should have sent him an invoice.  Maybe I didn’t follow up because I didn’t want the partnership or text messages at midnight.  Regardless, I wish him well and have no hard feelings.  But honestly, not even a Christmas card or little Thank you for all of the help work (and $) I gave him.  Maybe, he’s just running behind on his Thank You notes.

C’est La Vie.

The important thing- I did learn a very important lesson and I always learn from my mistakes.  That’s what mistakes are for.

NO MORE FREEBIES!  And this is a mistake I hope you can learn from too, especially if you have trouble “drawing the line in the sand” like I did.  If, like me, you are transitioning from a job that paid a “regular weekly salary” to your own business, this advice will be helpful.

Here is the Skinny on how to do it…from my new favorite business Diva, Adrienne Graham.  Source: Forbes

  • Believe that what you know is valuable.  Charge for it.  If you value it, so will others.  Be confident!
  • Create a fee schedule. Give them a quote for how much it will cost them. They’ll either pay it or move on. If they move on, good riddance.   Having set fees are important too because customized quotes are time consuming to put together.
  • Decline lunch/coffee invitations unless they are strictly non-business and you enjoy the person inviting.  If the conversation turns into business, quickly and politely tell them you’re off the clock. If they are interested in a consult or working with you- they can book an appointment and let them know what the charge is for that.
  • Keep it light. Don’t dish out out valuable ooey gooey good stuff!   Give the reason why they should do something and what they should do but never the how- NOT for FREE.  Anything beyond the why and what has value and you need to charge!  Also remember- don’t even point them in the direction to obtain the how. That’s short changing yourself.
  • Prominently post that there are no freebies. Maybe word it nicer.  Post this on your blog or website, and even on your social media profiles, make sure you mention that consultations are available at a fee.  {I’m working on this myself….stay tuned}
  • Exchange for equal value. Good old fashioned bartering.  You must ask for an equal value in service or product in exchange.  Assess what they have that can value your business or something that you would normally purchase.  The trick- only you will know if what they have is equal to what you’re giving.
  • Refer them to your “free” resources. If you write a blog, have published articles, have archived videos or podcasts or have a show in which you dispense advice, refer them to that information. Explain that those are the only FREE information sources you offer.  You’ll get some website hits and anything else beyond your resources would require you to charge a fee.
  • Don’t be afraid to send them to Google.  You can recommend they go to Google, or any other search engine or to sites that have articles or information about what they need advice on. Problem is, especially with Nutrition, that they’ll be overwhelmed with varying degrees of information. For this, I usually just defer to EatRight.org- the official site for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Ask them for a paying referral.  Before you dispense any advice, ask them to provide you with referrals to others who most certainly need (and can afford) your service.  And still don’t dish out too much brain goo for free.  If they need your help, they’ll find the money or a very good barter.
  • Don’t back down. I know it’s hard to say “no” sometimes and especially for women. But don’t back down.  People will know how far they can bend or push you. Stand firm, set your boundaries and guard your treasures (your brain and the know how in it). Don’t compromise.  You don’t want to devalue your expertise.

Bottom Line: My Brain is Expensive and It’s Time to Be a Diva About it.  Time is money, especially with three kids.

I have spent oodles of hours and a lot of money training this noggin to work the way it works.  And when I’m up at 2:00 a.m (sometimes 3:00 a.m) blogging, doing an online CEU class, reading a scientific journal OR- giving that other side of my brain attention by learning to design websites or reading up on the newest social media trends- you are most likely sleeping.

So, how is that fair?  You are sleeping while I’m up learning stuff to share with you for FREE?

I have spent hours and hours reading, writing, studying, learning & networking.  The networking groups I’m in are either time consuming and/or expensive to join.  The classes I take to keep up to date on all of this knowledge cost money and so does insurance, software, website upkeep, business cards, gas, child-care, etc.  And I refuse to pay my nanny to go on a lunch date with brain pickers looking for free ooey gooeys- not anymore.

We all want a return on our investments right?  We wouldn’t invest money into a stock hoping for no return.

My brain…my investment.

Know that when I consult, I spend a lot of time prepping for the appointment.  I love helping people. I love giving advice.  And most of all, I LOVE motivating people to eat healthy and feel better.    I love teaching people how to navigate through technology and create a social media presence.  That hourly rate that I charge you, your business or your insurance company isn’t really just for one hour, especially because I am type “A” and will not meet with you unprepared.

And if you ask me for a “quick brain pick”, I actually can’t give you good advice. Your chances of getting really good advice from me are as likely as winning the lotto.

Look at it this way.  An example: You want advice on losing weight.  Without getting a good baseline weight/BMI, family history, medical history, dietary recall, food log, medication list,  grasp on psychological, social or family issues etc., knowing our activity level, whether you can read a food label, how often you eat out, what you cook, Can you cook? etc….I can NOT really help you without all the facts.

If I were to give you bad advice on the fly, I could be liable.  You wouldn’t get a diagnosis from doctor without an accurate assessment at a paid office visit.  It would not be good health-care.  And if you are looking for FREE legal advice- forget about finding that anywhere fast.   And imagine if a paying client found out I gave someone else the similar advice for free.

The reality is it costs me over $50 to just fill up my gas tank and over $500 to fill up my fridge every month.  I have three kids and a mortgage and this brain needs to earn us a living.  The extra time I have in the day is spent helping with homework, potty training, making dinner & enjoying my family.

I remember being up LONG nights/early mornings reading book after book about publishing books.   I spent hours and hours with my writing group and at SCBWI workshops.   Then, I just did it.   {I authored and published a children’s book in 2008}  Wrote it, had it edited, hired an illustrator and a designer, set up a website, found a printer, etc.  I could be a book coach.  My brain has actually been picked so many times on that subject that I don’t think there is anything else in there to pick- no ooey gooeys left. Publishing is a tough business.

And Please don’t come up to me at a book signing, tell me all about your dream to get published, pick my brain AND then NOT buy my book.  Really, I don’t mind chit chatting about my experience…a little bit.  It’s a great story, but at least buy my book for $16.99- bargain price for advice don’t you think?  And the time I wasted talking to you could have been used selling books to others walking by.

Let’s not even talk about how long it takes to write a thoughtful blog post.  It’s time consuming writing, editing, linking, tagging for SEO, uploading pictures, editing pics and video & etc.  It can take anywhere from 2-5 hours.  And you want me to do this for free or for a free box of snack bars?  Please value my education, my skills, my brain.  I do.

Note: if you are a company with a product you think I’ll love or want me to try.  Maybe you have a product that I already LOVE?  I’m happy to write about and spread the word about it!  You have the option to sponsor a post and/or advertise on my site.  I do barter, but it (whatever it is) has to be worth something of VALUE.  Contact: Kristie@DivaDietitian.com for more information about this website’s stats and my fees.  I’d love to work with you.

Dietitian Confessions

So I have a few things to fess up about, my Diva Dietitian Confessions.

Here is the Skinny…

Dietitian NUtritionist Secrets Dietitian ConfessionsI’m telling you this because sometimes when people hear you are a Dietitian, they think you eat perfect all of the time.  They envision you eating salads and tofu or granola and cottage cheese every day.  They see a food scale on your kitchen counter and a big bowl of fruit.

At picnics and parties, friends watch you fill your plate.  And those french fries they would normally put on their plate are replaced by fruit or yep….a salad (But only if you are watching.)  Thoughts of Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies or a potato chip entering your lips is not what they see.

picture Source: shannoneileenblog.typepad.com via Jenn on Pinterest

Here is the Skinny… Dietitians are not perfect.  Maybe some, but not me.

  • The reality is I CRAVE desserts and LOVE potato chips just like anybody else.  When I was pregnant, I would down a whole bag of those tangy salt and vinegar chips in one sitting.  And If chocolate Mousse is on the menu- it’s all mine.
  • With the exception of a few random Yoga classes I have taken over the last few years, I have not worked out or really exercised in almost eight years…until this past Sunday.  That’s right, 8 years with no formal exercise routine in place.

The fact is it’s easy to ignore what’s good for you when life gets busy and chaotic, no matter who you are or what you do for a living.

  • From time to time, I’ve been know to skip breakfast drinking only a cup of coffee (eh hem…or  3 cups) with REAL half & half (because I think fat free creamer or skim milk in coffee sucks!)  And I use REAL sugar.  Honestly, some days I don’t even realize that I haven’t eaten until my stomach growls to an embarrassing roar.  It’s obviously mad at me.
  • When I was working my full time Sales Job, a meal was sometimes a pastry from the box I was bringing my customers (or a cake pop!)  And this was, of course, after a trip through the Starbucks window,”I’ll have a Grande Cafe Mocha Please.”  Notice I did not say, “Skinny Grande No Whip No Sugar 1/2 Caf Mocha” Because… that would not be worth $3.89.
  • Working full time is very hard when you have little kids up at night interrupting your sleep.   For a while, I was hopelessly addicted to caffeine.  I could drink a whole pot in before leaving the house, really I could.  The coffee was also not black- full of real sugar and half & half.
  • If you see me out grocery shopping and my kids are VERY well behaved.  Know that I may be slipping them M&Ms in the cart.
  • And last, but not least, I love a good glass of wine or a delicious martini.  Although I would recommend no more than one drink per day to you, there are times when I’m out (or home) having fun or on a Friday night that I’ll pour myself a second or third glass.

Woo…got all of that off my chest!

I actually hesitated to publish this post for fear that you may think I am some sort of hypocrite,  like a shoemaker with barefoot kids OR an overweight Heart Surgeon who eats French Fries and needs a triple bypass surgery.

It’s sort of lovely thinking that somebody out there may think I’m a perfect eater, an elite role model of health and fitness.  Most days I am a very good role model.  But I have those days when I wake up on the wrong side of the bed just like anyone else.

I’m sure there may be a few other health sins that have committed too.  The difference between my “sins” is that I know the ramifications of eating horribly and living an unhealthy life.  And because of the knowledge, I don’t let the behavior catapult into a viscous cycle that could lead to obesity or clogged arteries.  I just don’t let my sins become a habit.

If I eat a doughnut, I don’t feel guilty AND I don’t eat the whole box.  I may not have had any formal exercise plan in the past eight years, but I play outside with my kids and generally lead a pretty active life.  When I make gooey desserts, I share them with friends.  And I make sure that they are “worth” the calories.  When I drink wine, I enjoy it.

I hope that by knowing that I make poor choices from time to time, makes it easier for people to ask me questions or feel okay about telling me the truth about their health habits.  The last thing I would want is a client to come to me and tell me lies in a 24-48 hour food recall or mis-spell F-R-ench fries as F-R-U-I-T.

The first part of making healthy changes in our lives is finding our areas of weakness.  Once we know our own truths, it is only then that we can make changes.  And I truly believe that moderation is the key to good health.

Sample a little bit of everything.  These are the secrets of happiness and good health.” -Julie Child-  Fact: Julia Child lived to 91 years old.Diva Dietitian (Registered and Licensed Dietitian) blogs in Full Disclosure. I don’t think I actually saw all of the Super Bowl Commercials.  But this Geico Super Bowl advertisement with the middle school girls and Weight Loss guy was so funny.

Can you imagine hiring teenage girls to follow you around and critique your every bite?  The horror!

Although I laughed out loud at this commercial, it was also (sadly) a very real portrayal of how judgmental middle school and high school girls can be to each other and themselves.  {That’s a post for another day…}

And if you are not aware.  Weight Loss does not have to be expensive.

What many people do not know is that insurance plans such as Blue Cross and Aetna actually cover up to six visits with a Registered Dietitian FREE (note I said REGISTERED Dietitian)

AND That’s right, FREE!   Please note: insurance coverage always varies from plan to plan and on a person’s individual needs.

A Registered Dietitian is the REAL DEAL AND will have RD after his/her name.  If you do not see RD (meaning Registered Dietitian or REAL DEAL) next to a Nutrition Couselor or Nutritionist’s name- find another counselor)

I am a Registered Dietitian and quite the Diva about it.  I value the hard work it takes to get your RD and keep that RD.  An RD practices science and evidence based Nutrition AND is not just somebody hopping on the the hokey pokey wellness bandwagon.

How The New York Giants Prepared for the Super Bowl

Wondering How the New York Giants Prepared for the Super Bowl?

Here is the Skinny…

My husband, a die hard New York Giants Fan, is watching the Super Bowl as we speak.  “GET THE BALL!”  Me?  I’m blogging (wearing a Giant’s shirt though.)  Don’t hate me Philadelphia.  I was born and raised in EAGLES land- a Giants fan now.  It’s about my marriage.  You understand right?

I did just watch the half time show- so fun!  And if you want to be able to say, “I’m sexy and I know it!” just like our Diva in the house, Madonna.  This is a must read post for you.

Getting our bodies moving and fit is so important to obtain optimal health.  Did you know Mom (yes-she’s a Mom) Madonna, practices regular Yoga?   She looks awesome right?  And want to know her age?  CLICK HERE Her birthday is the day after mine- August 16th, BUT 1958.
